1977 - Mark & Nancy Sheehan found Cape Medical Supply (CMS) out of their rented home in Mashpee

1980 – Mark Sheehan is honored by The Bourne-Sandwich Chamber of Commerce as Business Owner of the Year

1982 – The company rents a storage unit and adds hospital equipment and healthcare supplies to their full line of respiratory care products and services

1983 – CMS opens first retail store in Canterbury Plaza in Sandwich

1985 - 1989 – CMS Hires six new staff members, many remain with the company today

1986 – CMS opens a new larger location in Canterbury Plaza.

1988 – CMS purchases its first computer

1992 – CMS moves to current HQ in the Sandwich Industrial Park

1994 – CMS opens an additional location at the Cape Cod Mall

1995 – The Sandwich headquarters adds more space including a second floor

1996-1999 - Five more staff members are hired, many remain with the company today

2000 – There are 25 staff members

2005 – CMS acquires Cape & Islands Oxygen and the Personal Care Center from Cape Cod Healthcare

2006 – The Hyannis uniform division is sold. Owners Mark and Nancy Sheehan retire and their oldest son Gary Sheehan becomes President and CEO; CMS acquires Helpful Home Medical in Plymouth

2007 – The Sheehan’s second son, Michael Sheehan, joins the company’s financial division. 

2008 – CMS is honored as the business of the year for their Philanthropic initiatives in the region. A complete renovation and expansion of the Sandwich HQ is completed which more than triples the size of the original space occupied when it opened in 1992

2009 – CMS voted first runner up for the Best Home Medical Equipment Company in the United States. Member of The Year by the New England Medical Equipment Dealers. Company honored by the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce and SCORE as the Small Business of the Year

2010 - CMS receives Business Excellence Award (Healthcare) from the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.  A new distribution facility and patient service center is opened in Canton, MA to provide services throughout the Greater Boston, Metro West and North Shore.  Company Co-Founder Mark Sheehan passes away following four year battle with cancer; company and family found The Cape Medical Supply Mark Sheehan Memorial Foundation.

2011 - CMS acquires assets of entity in Maine, starts Seacoast Respiratory to service NH and Maine.  The Sheehan's third son, Kevin, joins CMS as Director of Professional Relations for Seacoast Respiratory.  CMS Honored as MA Family Business of the Year, Mid-Size Category (50-150 Employees).

2012 - CMS adds automated orthopedic solutions to its product offerings and begins partnering with integrated healthcare systems on a first of its kind solution in New England.  Lean Process Improvement efforts are expanded and CMS focuses on delivering more value and reliability to an expanding customer base.

2013 - CMS is named "The Best Home Medical Equipment Company in the United States."  CMS is awarded 10 Competetitive Bidding contracts by the Medicare program.  The company goes through a complete overhaul of its logo and brand, presenting a fresh new face to the marketplace as it expands into a bright but ever changing future.

2014 - CMS is named to the Inc 5,000 list of America's fastest growing private companies for a fifth time. Company continues its geographic expansion into RI and reaches 75 team members.

2015 - CMS is named to the Inc 5,000 list of America's fastest growing private companies for the sixth time. Mike Sheehan, Mark and Nancy's second son, appointed Chief Operating Officer. CMS closes Sandwich retail location to accommodate continuing growth in sleep therapy market. CMS Honored at 2015 Brightree Summit in Atlanta, GA with the "Leading Edge" award.

2016 - CMS is named to the Inc 5,000 list of America's fastest growing private companies for the seventh time. CMS acquires New England Medical Homecare (Auburn, MA), expanding further into Central MA and Worcester County.

2017 - CMS is named to the Inc 5,000 list of America's fastest growing private companies for the eighth time. CEO Gary Sheehan is named the 2017 Van Miller Homecare Champion by the American Association for Homecare at a ceremony at Medtrade in Atlanta, GA. 

2018 - CMS narrows product focus down to just sleep therapy services and orthopedic bracing solutions. CEO Gary Sheehan is awarded the "April Mason Homecare Advocacy" award by HOMES.

2019 - CMS acquires the sleep therapy assets of Enos Home Medical.
