Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Driving in Maine

Posted on Dec 20, 2019

The Maine Bureau of Motor vehicles has specific policies surrounding drivers with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). These policies are designed to keep all drivers safer on the roads of Maine and surrounding states.

From the Maine BMV:

"Treatment of OSA generally improves daytime sleepiness. Use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a highly effective treatment with studies suggesting that daytime symptoms improve within two weeks of positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment. It is the only treatment modality demonstrated to reduce crash risk. Not using CPAP for as little as one night may cause daytime impairment."

Cape Medical Supply has been treating OSA patients in the state of Maine since 2011 and our team of qualified professionals in the region is there to serve your motor vehicle needs. Our digital platform allows for a seamless licensing process and efficient ongoing compliance with Maine BMV regulations.
